Which Fund Category, Which Provider Performs Best?

Pick the fund category you care about and compare returns across all ten MPF providers at once — find out instantly where your fund ranks.

Why compare MPF funds across providers?

Hong Kong's MPF system lets you choose funds across different trustees, but the same category (say, "Asian Equity Fund") can differ by dozens of percentage points in return depending on the provider — driven by differences in asset allocation, stock selection, and fees (FER). Most people have never seriously compared their own provider's performance against the rest of the market since the day they joined.

This MPF fund comparison tool pulls together the latest return data from Hong Kong's ten major MPF providers (Manulife, AIA, Sun Life, BOCL, BCT, BEA, Principal, Hang Seng, China Life, HSBC) across 7 fund categories, so you can see at a glance which providers are winning and which are lagging — without trawling through ten separate provider websites.

The Core Accumulation Fund is the MPFA's legally-mandated Default Investment Strategy (DIS) fund that every trustee must offer, with a fee cap — all ten providers have one.
A "—" in a single cell means that specific figure wasn't available; a "—" across the whole row means that provider currently has no fund in this category at all. For reference only, and does not constitute investment advice.

About this fund comparison tool

Data comes from AAStocks and each provider's own official fund factsheets, with returns already net of Fund Expense Ratio (FER). Note that the "as of" date differs by provider — see the "As of" column in the table for each fund's exact date.

Each MPF provider updates their fund factsheets at a different cadence (some monthly, some quarterly). We use each provider's latest publicly available data, so dates may differ row by row — this isn't an error.

The Core Accumulation Fund is the MPFA's legally-mandated Default Investment Strategy (DIS) fund that every trustee must offer, with a fee cap — that's why all ten providers have one. It suits people who don't want to actively pick funds.

A * means that provider has no dedicated fund exactly matching this category — the closest available substitute is shown instead (e.g. an index-tracker fund). Its scope may not exactly match the category label; for reference only.

Not necessarily. Past performance is not indicative of future results, and switching funds should factor in your risk tolerance, investment horizon, and overall asset allocation. WhatsApp us for a free comparison to see exactly where your current fund ranks and whether an adjustment makes sense.
